Commission Terms and Conditions

TBCompositions (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is thankful for your interest in commissioning music from us!

Commissioning

When filling out the “Commission Form,” be as detailed as you want to be for this piece (any details not stated will be up to our discretion. The “Instrumentation, Pricing, and Time Requirements” page is just a guideline for what you can put in the “Commission Form” and does not have to be followed exactly. However, if any details necessary to complete the work are missing, you will receive an email stating that we will not be working on that commission, with the reason(s) for the denial. You will then have to resubmit the “Commission Form” again. TBCompositions reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.

“Instrumentation, Pricing, and Time Requirements” spreadsheet

The “Instrumentation, Pricing, and Time Requirements” spreadsheet does not guarantee the cost of a commission or how long it will take. It is a guideline to give an estimate. Tax and fees can be added. In relation to the “months” and “weeks” as stated on the spreadsheet, 1 week is 7 days, and 1 month is 30 days. Any price given in a quote will need both parties to agree. By sending the invoice, TBCompositions agrees to the price and due date.

Payment

Once both parties have accepted the quote, an invoice will be sent stating the amount due and the date the amount is due. A 20% deposit will be noted and will be due within 10 days of the date the invoice was sent. These 10 days will be added to the full time it will take to compose the work. If the deposit is not sent within the 10 days, TBCompositions will void the invoice and will not start the work. If you would like to try again after the first request was canceled, you must resubmit the “Commission Form”. We will start working on the work as soon as the deposit is received. If the deposit is sent before it is due, the expected date the work is due will not change. The rest of the payment will be due on the date stated on the invoice. Failure to pay the agreed-upon amount will result in a 15% increase of the price, not including the deposit, for every 7 days past due. The first 15% increase will be applied the day after the agreed payment due date. If, on the 15th day of no payment received, payment will not be accepted, and we will take legal action.

During the Composition

There may be times during the writing of the work when we may need to ask questions about what you want the work to sound like. Any changes must be made 14 days before the due date, or they will not be accepted.

Extensions

We, unfortunately, may need to issue an extension on any work. If this does happen, there will be a 10% off the price, excluding the 20% deposit, for every 14 days of an extension required. The first 10% off will be applied the day after the expected date listed on the invoice.

Cancellations

We understand that things can happen at any time; however, any cancellations requested within 14 days of the due date, approved by both parties, must pay 50% of the total price, including the 20% deposit. Failure to pay will result in legal action.

Deposit and Refunds

All commissions will have a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the full cost. If you are unhappy with the finished product, you will receive all but the initial deposit. If there is a mistake in the score or any of the parts, we will fix any errors promptly. Any detail(s) not laid out in the “Commission Form” will be up to us to decide what is best for the piece. Refunds for any reason related to details not outlined in the “Commission Form” will not be accepted.
